Inner West Residence
This private residence in Sydney’s Inner West achieves an ambitious goal – a well-illuminated space without any downlights in the ceiling.
Ambient illumination is achieved throughout the open plan kitchen and dining area using 9W/m Downhill Dan 10 Profiles. Due to the small proportions of the profile, the cove detail goes unnoticed during the daytime, but highlights the cornice and provides an even, functional light throughout the whole room at night. Drama is then introduced to the space using a combination of pendant and spotlight lighting.

The lounge is illuminated using our Elements Xenon Spotlights. With a beam angle ranging from 10 to 60 degrees these spotlights can be easily adjusted on site to suit any size of artwork. Clever positioning within the skylight void means that the fixtures are well concealed from normal view and the ceiling remains clean. In combination with the pendant, the result is a dramatic and romantic setting with emphasis only on the features of the space.

The Master-bedroom is illuminated from a high-level cove utilising 12W/m colour tuneable Downhill Dan 10 Profiles. The colour temperature of the LEDs has been set to a circadian curve so that it automatically mimics the colour of daylight throughout the day. In the morning, the coves gradually brightens to create warm light at a selectable time to naturally wake the sleepers like a sunrise. The pendants are individually controllable to work as night lights without disturbing the other side of the bed.
