Randwick racecourse is Australia’s premier racing, hospitality and event destination.
To maintain its reputation as a world-class facility, the Australian Turf Club (ATC) upgraded their facilities with the visitor and member carpark.
The project brought a number of challenges including the fact that the lighting system for the carpark roof had to provide a high level of illumination, while minimising the amount of obtrusive light emitted, due to close residential boundaries. The project also required a high output surface mounted circular fitting to be installed in the fire stairs. This product had to adhere to emergency light standards and be emergency rated.
Working closely with the designers, Light Culture was able to supply pole top luminaires that were the perfect solution for the street, as they not only utilised an innovative optical system, but the architectural profile of the body matched existing luminaires and helped maintain aesthetic uniformity.
For the fire stairs, Light Culture supplied a TRILUX ONPLANA fitting which was modified locally to house a maintained emergency pack. After being tested, the product was sent to Light Lab to attain independent certification.
Light Culture delivered a lighting solution that facilitated the client’s requirements, exceeded their expectations, and met all relevant Australian standards. The new lighting system provides an adequate amount of light without being intrusive and has been well received by members, visitors, and the local community. The project was completed on time and on budget and is an example of excellence in lighting.
