Situated on Avoca beach, this contemporary home sits gracefully along the coastal nature’s line and captures views of the beach and local cafes.
The minimalist design of the residence is created by encompassing concrete and timber which give a sense of organic warmth and sustainability. The beachfront residence required high-quality fittings that were functional, modern, and durable enough to withstand the harsh ocean conditions. The lights we used needed to match the stylish interior and highlight the exterior elements that make this home unique.
One of the main challenges of the project was the fact that the client wanted the lighting system to be Dynalite controlled. This meant that a number of modifications had to be made so that the automation control system could be installed. The fact that the electrical contractor was reluctant to communicate throughout the project added an increased level of difficulty.
Having worked with Saville Isaacs Architects on previous projects, we knew that the designers had a great eye for detail. We were confident that despite budgetary constraints, the designs they produced would be detailed, varied, and practical.
Sliding glass walls on the first floor created a seamless transition between the house and the beach. In the kitchen area, above the bench we used a suspended LED profile Bob Each Way 65 which illuminated both – working area and the ceiling. Downhill Dan 14 was used in cooking area to give that extra touch of light.
In the bedroom – above the bed and in the bathroom was fitted Trimless Tim 15 which created warmth and aesthetics.
The yard area required lighting which was not only suitable for exterior but also provide enough light to illuminate the stairs and the fireplace area. Downhill Dan 14 was the right fit – specifically made with IP65 rating.
As a result, all spaces were fitted with contemporary lights that provide the perfect amount of illumination and improve the mood of each space.
Light Culture provided the owner with a superior lighting system that is functional, practical, and sustainable. The client was extremely pleased with the outcome.
