SafetyCulture, a global developer of mobile solutions for improving safety in the workplace and streamlining operations, was first launched from a garage in Townsville, and is now worth over $2 billion. When they needed an office space that supported their rapidly growing workforce, as well as cultivated innovation and cooperation they were able to put together an incredible team to bring their vision to life.
The nine-story, $38 million structure offers open lounging areas, meeting rooms with customer-themed decor, an on-site kitchen and chefs, a cutting-edge gym, and event spaces. As SafetyCulture continues to experience rapid expansion and welcomes new talent into the firm, its prominent location in the centre of Surry Hills means that it is in an ideal position for the company to keep their finger on the pulse of the tech community.
Throughout the construction process, environmental sustainability was a top emphasis, supporting SafetyCulture’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions. Thus it was important when developing the lighting design, all luminaires used had have exceptional energy efficiency. The design for these offices set the bar for the development of other new buildings in Sydney and beyond.
The require of a modern multispace solution that enables future developments and potential growth in addition to the current needs of Safety Culture meant that lighting also needed to be dynamic. Track mounted Tantalum, are used to highlight artwork and wayfinding, while Sonnos surface mounted cans create low glare, general illuminance with exception colour rendering index.
The workplace has a 5.5 energy rating from the National Australian Built Environment Rating System and was constructed using a combination of passive and active design to produce a fully green workspace (NABERS).
“We’ve built a new home that is uniquely SafetyCulture, customer-centric and a really motivating place to work. The space is a partnership with the City of Sydney Council, leading workplace designers, living infrastructure specialists and a local artist. We’re proud that the building gives back to the community and inspires our team while also maintaining our sustainability focus to ensure we achieve our net-zero targets,”
said Luke Anear, founder and CEO of SafetyCulture.
