Sydney Modern Landscape Design
The Art Gallery of NSW’s Sydney Modern Project extension meets the gallery’s demand for additional space for art while also respecting and enriching the public’s use of the surrounding landscape, preserving and celebrating significant trees, and improving the precinct’s accessibility. The glass and stone structures, which has been dug into the side of the escarpment, seem to float in the landscape. To complement the unique parkland surrounding the landscape design will increase the biodiversity of the site and include endemic planting to introduce historic Australian native species more in keeping with the original flora of the site.
